Back to the airport for our flight to Ko Samui. We left early so we had plenty of time to check in, only to arrive at the desk and be told that our flight leaves in half an hour! Me and Jane got a little bit mixed up with the flight time - oopss! Thankfully the flight was delayed anyway. The plane we were travelling on was the smallest I had ever been on, it even had propellers! I thought it was going to be an awful flight but it just as good as any big plane I have travelled on.
In Ko Samui we were staying in a resort called Lamai which is slightly quieter than the other main resort but there are still plenty of things to do. The hotel we were staying at was really nice, it even had a pool that over looked the beach. The day we arrived in Ko Samui was Dan's birthday, so we all went out to a mexican restaurant in the night. The food and the margarita's were amazing, and after our meal we bought a few drinks and went and sat on the beach. A lady walked past who was selling lanterns, so we bought some and let them off. It was such a good first night in Lamai and I think Dan really enjoyed his birthday too :)
We spent the next few days relaxing, eating nice food and drinking cocktails (usual behaviour for flash packers) until it was time for elephant trekking. I had been looking forward this for ages, but was worried that it might be cruel to the elephants so we booked a tour that only had a short trek and were you could feed the elephants at the end. The first part of the tour took us to a house, were we sat outside and was shown how to make a Thai curry, (little did the guide know we were already experts at this) we were then shown how monkeys are trained to collect coconuts off the trees - the monkey seemed to really enjoy doing it. Then it was time for elephant trekking! When it came to it, I was slightly nervous. We got on the elephant and everytime it would walk down a slight hill we felt like we were going to fall off it, it was fun though. After the trekking, we went swimming in a pool by a huge waterfall. The water was freezing but we all got in anyway. It was nice to swim in there until I saw a huge spider jumping on top of the water, so I got out as fast as I could!
The next day Jane and Dan had arranged a trip to another island, so me and Mark decided to travel to the west side of Ko Samui so that we could go to the beach and watch the sunset. The beach was called Lipa Noi and is completely unspoilt by tourists, so it was nice that it was so quiet with just a few small hotels on it. The sunsets quite early in Thailand, so by 6pm we got to watch it. It set behind a mountain nearby, it was lovely to watch and we both took so many pictures of it!
Soon it was time for the boys to leave :( they dropped me and Jane off in Chaweng on their way to the airport so we could spend a few days there. It was sad that they had to leave as we all had an amazing two weeks.
It was back to backpacking for me and Jane, but we only had a week till our other visitors to arrive - Colette and Katharine!! Can't Wait!!
