Ahoy there everybody!
A lot has happened since our last entry so try and bear with me. We are still living in bondi junction, and still really enjoying it too! It really is pretty much the perfect place for us right now and the weather has been Beautiful - yes thats with a capital B! Still dont appear to be any more tanned though... must work on this. Any way we're still slaving away in our bar jobs, turns out probably NOT the best option as the hours are crazy and we dont really have any time for a social life, especially at weekends but the pay is rediculously good and the tips are even more so. so no complaints from us really! We are still applying for day jobs however, Sydney seems quite slow on getting back to people though, from application to interview it seems perfectly reasonable for it to take 6 weeks!! Mental. But i have had some good luck, I have just been taken up by a childcare recruitment agency so hopefully that will lead to some regular money coming in and some time to relax at the weekends, and some fun work too. Its 0-5 year olds, which i think is gonna be so much fun! keep me active anyway!
Speaking of active.... THE BLUE MOUNTAINS! this is the really interesting bit of what we've been up to lately! Sorry about the boring job stuff! Jo and I (well jo really, i tagged along) volunteered for the wilderness society last weekend in the blue mountains. Basically some crazy ass folk were running 100km, yes thats right 100km, through the mountainous forests and the organisers needed help in all sorts of ways. So as volunteering is good for the soul (and it meant we got to see the blue mountains for free) we hopped on board. As we got there on the sunday we thought we'd be on the finish line cheering people in BUT what we got was something much better! Or worse, depending on how you look at it - we thought it was good. We got to be part of their clean up operation, basically walking a part of the route and, yup you guessed it, cleaning up! All the markers and ribbons marking out the track the crazies had to run. Again, we were so lucky as we got a really good route, well an incredibly hard route especially in converse trainers but we got to see the best bits of the mountains on it. So 4 hours later we got to the end of our little bit with upmost respect and awe for the runners who were doing the actual thing- and serious doubts about their mental health! There was barely any path, just clambouring over rocks and up waterfalls and they were doing it non-stop for 3days! Anyway we were absolutely exhausted but proud of ourselves and decided to stay the night. The next day we got up and did it all over again, but on our own and not picking up rubbish! Seriously if any of you come to australia you have to see the Blue Mountains. I have never seen anything like it, they were magnificent. And they just go on and on and on forever. the most beautiful thing ive ever seen i reckon! It was so much fun doing something different too, getting away form the city and exploring new things, just what the doctor ordered! All was going well until the last leg of the journey when we had to jump over some precarious stepping stones over a swamp.... Unfortunately Jo stumbled and fell in right up to her hips! Then as i was trying to help her tried to pull me in with her!! The cheek! She got out safe and creature free in the end thank god, just rather muddy. Luckily we are two very well prepared young gals and she had a change of trousers, but no shoes alas so had to walk home from the train in her socks! It was very funny at the time (for me) and definitely to look back on (for both of us)!
Oh and dad you would be very proud of me, we had to cut down lots of signs and i did them all with my trusty pen knife! The boys were all left way behind! Hahaha. I'll never leave home without it again!
Anyway, i have probably exhausted all your patience waffling on like this so I will leave you now until next time!
we're both missing you all lots and want news from you too so please e-mail us or post a message on here to let us know what you're up to.
love Rachel x x x x
