Hey people! so we've now been in Sydney for over a week and are still having a tremedous time! On monday we went to Manly for the first time on the boat, unfortunately it was raining (yes apparently it does rain in oz!). However even in the rain Manly is beautiful and we would really like to try and find a flat there, lovely long beach, nice shops and cafe's and a much more relaxed atmosphere than the bustle of the city. Tuesday we went to Wildlife World where we saw such amazing creatures as spiders, snakes, kangaroos, crazy big birds that can kill you and cuddly koala bears! (sadly you can't cuddle them in New South Wales as it is illegal to do so unless you are a "koala keeper", we're looking into becoming one of these!). We moved hostels only down the road but it proved difficult with the ridiculous amounts of luggage we had to carry! hostel is nice with a kitchen so we're trying to not spend so much money eating out, although $10 steaks are very tempting! Much of the rest of our time has been spent doing useful things like medicare, tax file numbers and searching for houses and also we have spent many days just lying on the beach trying to get some sort of a tan so we don't look like pasty foriegners! There are some lovely beaches along from Bondi such as Coogee and Bronte , swimming is quite hard to do though because the waves are BIG!!! Spent a really nice weekend with Rachel's neighbour Chris in Manly and he took us up the coast to Palm Beach which is where they film Home and Away, was very exciting! Saturday night was spent at our first ever Aussie Rules football match, we went with the Wake up hostel that we stayed in first and they gave us a free Sydney Swans hat, list of the rules and we all went in a big group which was nice, its a crazy game but we managed to figure out what was going on with the help of some aussie's who we were sat next to! So i guess you could say we are settling in well, starting to get acclimatised to the weather which is still really nice, thing is that here if it rains it just gets it over and done with and rains, then the sun will come out, not like england where its overcast for days! The main thing we're focusing on at the moment is trying to find a place to live, manly seems to be quite popular and quite expensive but we're checking websites most days and have a few viewings tomorrow. So enough rambling from me, here are some pics too finally! hope you're all well, enjoy! Love jo
Hey! just a quick word from me (rachel) too! As jo says we're having a grand old time sunbathing etc. Because we cant swim in the sea though we went to the new aquatic centre in sydney to get some exercise! it was amazing! such a nice pool, olympic sized, CLEAN (no plasters on the bottom etc) AND we could use the sauna/steam room/jacuzzi included in the price! $6!! thats 3 squids to yous guys. So i was very impressed with that! the footie was another highlight, although we were sat right behind the goal line so were in fear of permenant disfigurement! And the home anad Away beach was everything i thought it would be (minus the hot H&A characters, gonna go back on a week day to try and catch some filming - look out for me as an extra!)
So i am now going to attempt to put up some photos so if they dont appear im sorry, i am quite imcompetant at these things. There will be a lot of beaches that not even i remember whcich one is which! Love to y'all! x x x
