Alarm
An epistle poem about the unknown neighbour
Dear neighbour
Having successfully avoided you this past 10 months
I cannot address this letter correctly
You are next door though,
So delivery would be easy
In fact I'm not sure if you have been here that long
My lack of interactions with you
A study in aloofness
I guiltily, occasionally, wonder
My awareness of you consists
Of the sound of you locking your
Door in the morning at 625am
My final unmutable alarm
Next the ding of the lift
To convey you
And your noisy roller bag
Downwards
I have developed something of an
Envy of your routine
So reliable
The regularity indicating
A man superior
To my morning groaning flurry
Of misapplied clothes
Forgotten shaves
Forget abandoned,
Not even attempted
Breakfasts
