Here is a panorama from the rooftop of my apartment. In the pictures below is also the view of the pool and across the city. Great for relaxing after a tense round of wrangling with the contract people over why the contractors need to supply us with actual polygons not lines that look
like them.
The sailing race was a casual affair, the boat was a fairly simple little 18 footer. It had a main sail and a jib. We thought of putting the spinaker up but the captain wasn't very familiar with it and the wind didn't really warrant it anyway. We went for about 4 hours and got becalmed about 3nm off shore, it took about 20 minutes to essentially drift with the odd whisper of wind about 100m to the furthermost buoy. Then once we turn around and had the wind behind us I thought we'd get going again but it still took ages to get moving again. Once closer to shore the wind was stronger and we ripped along when the route was parallel to the beach, I even turned around and dangled my legs over the side whilst we were really heeled over like you see crews doing on TV! There were six other boats, all small-medium yachts. There were three that went pretty quick and were taking the racing more seriously ... we were fourth, two pulled out as they got sick of being becalmed. It's a really active club and I'll be going back :-)
I also finally made it to 360 Mall after the adventures of the last post. There I saw an amazing Chihuly style glass artwork hanging in an atrium. The funny thing is, the last time I saw one of these was at Titan King Casino(?) in Bavet, Cambodia on the Vietnam border! I looked back through my other Travelpod blog about this placement but couldn't find a photo unfortunately.
