ok sorry been so long updating this have not had chance
rite so last entry we had just arrived at yosemite and stupidly taken all our bags with us and trecking up what felt like a mountain!
so we checked into our room which we had to our selves - we then set up our production line to make enough sandwiches to last us the whole day in the park - for some reason we had bought 24 rolls and half a tonne of ham so there was alot of food! and as we had an early start - the bus to the park was at 5 am we went to bed - living up to the party life style!
so at the bright time of 4am we get up and sort ourselves out and take that treck down the hill to the bus stop and an hour or so later we arrived in the park - we didnt realy know what we wanted to do - altho babs wanted to go and see the giant trees but we couldnt find the bus to get us there - so we decided to go and have a brew until the information center opened and asked there. having deciding this was a very goood plan and excicuted it to the letter we headed off to the info center only to be told that there was only one bus that takes you to the trees which left half an hour ago - i mean how were we to know when the bus leaves before the info center! muchos anger was felt
after standing around ranting for at least 20 minuites we decided to do the simple walk around the bottom of yosemite falls. while slowly walking along babs stops ahead of me and karen and yells 'theres a tag in its ear' so we catch up and theres only a bear about 20 meteres ahead of us - so we all grab at our camerea me not managing to get a picture before it hits us that were this close to a bear and should we be?! but the bear just stopped looked at us licked its lips and walked off!
so having achieved our goal of seeing one of the 3 bears in the park (as there only 3 mommy, daddy and baby bear) we were rather exciteable, and decided we would walk up to the top of yosemite falls - none of us thinking that this is the highest waterfall in north america! plus none of us checked the map to see that the walk was classified as difficult and for experienced walkers!
do about an hour into the walk were all sweating more than humanly possible thinking what we were doing and having asked a few peopl they said its not that much further so we carried on - another hour later we wanted to go back and find the people who said it wasnt much further and inflict masses amounts of pain on them! then we got to a pont where we thought we had reached as far as the path would go and started to take many more pictures - then i found that the path carried on round the corner and stupidly said whay not go this way - and found that it got much steeper and alot harder terrain!
so this was the perfect time to crack open the picnic we had put together. after many cheese and ham rolls we felt we could handle this mountain - 10 minuites later we relised we couldnt!
but we carried on and again the anger towards those who said it wasnt far grew and me falling over my own feet and another 2 hours later we reached the top - ok the views were great and karen got approached by a very inqusitive squrriel the feeling wasnt as satisfing as we had hoped as all we could think about was that we had to walk back down!
and down was sooo much easier than going up and was completed in about 2 hours - and by the end of it we all just wanted to go to bed!
so back to the hostel it was and sleep central. altho on the way back we saw another bear running along the side of the road so we only missed the elusive daddy bear (the others were way too small!) and back to the hostel where we had a well earned beer and went straight to bed!
the next day we all had to again get up early to get the bus and headed back to the joy that was merced! and the wonder that was the icecream shop that was there (mel gibson owned it - well we said he did i doubt he did at all but it seemed funny at the time!)
by the time we got back to san fran we were all knackered and ready for bed!
and just as i was bout to hit the hey i got a tap on my shoulder and it was only jo and steph that i had met in toronto and had been giving them travel advice until they caught up with me
