Pondicherry And Loggers Do The World
Welcome back to the adventures of "Where I is at" and "What is i doing",
Well we are still in Goa at the mo as being ill kind of restricted my movements for a few days but im sorted now and food is staying down once again.
We all had a great time up in Arambol and came away with loads of amusing stories, like Abby being hit in the head by a flying fish while she was out swimming, our constant encounters with eels which like to nibble your toes (which often left Alex screaming back into shore like a big girl). On our last day we went on a walk round the headland to find a lake we had heard about from a few people. We headed round to find this lake set back on the beach, surrounded by a lush tropical jungle and a fresh water spring running into it. After a wee walk up into the jungle we found some natural mud baths where some crazy little hippies were sat, looking like something out of swamp thing. The whole day was finished beautifully with tiger prawns and cold beer on the cliff top watching the sunset and all for the grand price of two pounds.
After our trip to Arambol we all headed down for a place called Anjuna, the clubbing central of Goa (God knows why because anjuna really is the hell hole of india). Sadly we stayed there for 3 days doing.......nothing really. We did hire out a cottage there for those 3 days which worked out really cheap for the four of us (only four now as alex has headed home). With its large clubbing crowd and huge drugs scene, you cant walk down the street more than five paces without being asked if you want ecstacy, grass etc. The locals are pretty animal like too. I had to sit and watch a guy squat and poo on the cliffs while i was trying to have breakfast......nice!
Still, my past 2 days have been a blissful contrast to that. On the day we left Anjuna, logs and I went our own way. Hannaha and Abs have stopped in a city called Panjim for a few days whereas Logs and I have fastracked our way down to a beach called palolim (reputed as the most idyllic place in goa). It is stunning. We had to get 4 state buses down here with the locals ( that was s***s and giggles but gave me a good opportunity to become welll aquainted with everyones body odours). We were like sardines in a matchbox. Still it was a great experience and it was cheap and the destination made it all worth it. Palolem beach is beautiful. It is enclosed by a thick coconut palm forest and has nicer weather than the north. Logs and I have rented out a palm thatched hut in the palm trees giving us a prime sea view. Since we arrived here we have been offered many trips to go and see the dolphins round the headland at a place called Butterfly beach. Well, being the tight gits that we are, logs and i decided we were not going to pay and thought we might swim round the cliffs to find them. We didn't get to far. We hit a rough patch where we just kept scraping all the rocks and cut our wee toes badly so we had to give up. We turned back and headed back for lunch. Met a group of people from Tel Aviv and Natanya in Israel and sat and had lunch with them and designed some party invitations for their party they are having tomorrow night. Logs and I still not defeated by our earlier attempt at seeing the dolphins, headed of again round the coast but this time climbed the cliffs (instead of trying to swim round them). Got to the top, sat watching the sunset and sure enough saw the dolphins playing in the last of the days sun. It was stunning (sounds naff but has been the highlight for me so far). Today logs and I have plans to throw ourselves of rocks and cliffs into the sea (for a laugh) and go and spend the night on an island just of the coast here (where apparently there are snakes and monkeys). The mosquitoes scare me more.
Future plans have changed a little now. Logs and I have decided to fast track Indonesia now and should be heading of there in two weeks time or less. We are both feeling like we have had our time in India now. It feels too touristy and we have little freedom to do what we want. So our plan is now to get to Bali and maybe start getting involved in some conservation work to keep ourselves busy and so we can start doing what we have been dying to do. India has been a great experience so far and i would like to come back one day but for now i have really itchy feet and i want to start taking my degree a bit further. The coastline here is not easy to explore in that most of the mangrove forests are destroyed or immersed in thick sludge and runoff and there is no coral reefs to speak off. Bali will atleast be an opportunity to see all this and explore it again.
So that is all my recent up to date news and what i is doing now.
Hope to speak to many of you soon,
Love Nads x
