Pondicherry And Loggers Do The World
dear all,
this place is absolutelyn bloody mental. sorry bout bad typing but this keyboard is very dodgy.
We are all safe and well and having a totally hectic experience. We arrived at 2.00am and drove past donkeys and cows to our hotel. then discovered we could not stay there that night (still dont know why) and so got transferred to the next door hotel. the rooms are very dodgy and our shower is a big plastic bucket with a jug! we have spent most of the time arguing with our tourist office as they work at a pace of life 10x slower than ours. i know thats what i came for but this takes the piss. We got taken to an indian restaurant last night where we were the only white people and got surrounded by sikh men so we got a little scared and left. We are quickly learning that a group of english women attracts a huge amount of attention and everywhere we go we get hassled, so for the most part we have just learnt to be really rude. We went to a Tomb today where a group of 50-60 strong men followed us around wanting pictures and a kiss. Apparently they dont understand "f*** off". Admittedly it got a little scary but they really are very harmless. They did get a little scared though when we all turned on them and started shaking our left fists and shouting (apparently very rude). So we are all very safe and well and wising up to our new surroundings very quickly. No one has delhi belly yet, although the bets are now at 6 quid that i get it first. Despite all the troubles and the amazingly hectic driving we are loving it. Tomorrow we are seeing the opening of a new temple which is suppose to rival the TaJ Mahal, then on monday we head of through Rajasthan for Mumbai. We hve hired a driver and car for two weeks to drive us through small villages and visiting temples and animal parks. Apparently we will see a camel Fair (this is where i shall sell logs for a camel to a sikh), a tiger reserve and going on an elephant ride. Hope you are all well and happy. Love Nads xxx P.S. Might be home in two weeks, not sure how much longer i can refrain from the very tempting shopping. Already now own a Sari, shalwar kameez and a stunning gold silk shawl oh and a pair of shoes all for 15 quid. were all getting good at bartering
