On Tuesday we took a trip down to Wellington for a few nights to have a go at job hunting in the capital. As Graham is normally working out of Wellington he had a flat we could borrow as he as away this week. It took us 5 hours to get to where his flat was, we would have been there a little sooner if the satnav (Amanda) was a little better!
Once we got there it was too late to head straight into he city so we grabbed a takeaway pizza and bunkered down for the night as the weatherman had predicted 130km/hr winds.
On Wednesday we got into our smart clothes on and went into the city to hand out Amanda's CV and for me to sign up with a trades recruitment agency. Amanda managed to hand out most of the CVs and checked in with the Auckland branch of her recruitment agency to check what availabilities there were in the area and the south island. Overall the day was productive :)
For our last day in Wellington we thought we would see a bit more of the city, as we had missed much the day before. We walked into the centre via the botanical gardens and down to the waterfront where the New Zealand museum was, and seeing as it was free, we wandered around there for a few hours - if you are ever in Wellington we would recommend the museum as there are a lot of interactive exhibitions, including an earthquake house. After this we searched for Cuba street, as we heard it was a 'hip' place to go, and wandered down there in search of Starbucks - as we has a voucher for a free drink!
To finish the day we walked back to the flat, which was all very much up steep hills, and had our budget dinner of instant noodles and veg before watching some films on tv.
