The weeks are in someways merging into one as we are focusing a lot of our time to job hunting and keeping an eye on the pennies.
Last week was a little different as I had Diwali to celebrate!
It was a little tough to get over the fact I was not with friends and family like all the other years but P-J did a great job of cheering me up and getting all the things I needed to make it a good day.
To top things I was able to Skype my family and to my delight my lovely friends where there too and I got to have a good old chat whilst they showed me all the nice food they were eating at my mum's.
We bought a few cakes and had a quiet day watching movies and a lovely Indian feast with Jo, Travis and Aisha.
Graham went to Auckland for the week he told us that we could use the flat in Wellington if we wanted. So, with little hesitation we decided to take a short trip to the capital to do some more exploring and to get to know the place better.
We arrived on Thursday after a four hour drive and had a look around the city for a little bit and then went to, what I can only describe as the most awesome, cinema to watch twilight. The
Cinema was created as if you were back in the 1950's and even had big leather sofas to sit on.
The next day we woke up bright and early and walked into the city to take a ferry to Somes Island.
The island in the second world war was used as a base by the NZ and other nationals armies.
After exploring the island for a few hours we noticed on a lot of the maps we had there were ring symbols dotted around. These were Lord of the Rings set places and after visiting WETA (the company who does the animation for the films) we decided to see if we could take a look at the sets.
Sadly, it didnt go so well as most of the set sites are now housing estates.
I then took PJ to a bar which I knew sold his favourite cider from the UK but on arrival we found out that they had sold out! Boo!
On our way back to havelock north on Friday morning we followed a few more ring symbols to see it we would find more sets. We did stumble across Rivendell, which means nothing to me as I haven't read the books, but was a significant place in the first movie (I think!).
We are back in sunny Havelock North now and summer is nearly here. We will post the pics of our latest adventure soon.
Lots of
Love xxx
