Hi everyone,
Lots of excitement since my last blog so to start where I left off.... DISNEY!
Myself, Lauren and Pam spent one of our days off, complete with Minnie ears at Disneyland, well and truly being kids again! It's not a huge place, but it has the disney magic and lots of rides and shows. The highlight was the production of the Lion King which was a concise version of the stage show... the performers were amazing and it was really cool to see in such a small venue (photos in the album section!).
The following day, our boss Maggie organised a BBQ on a small island for all of the people involved in the teaching programme. It was a lovely day and a great way to get to know everybody. However, the BBQ was a quite a different experience... before we set off we went to the market and bought tonnes of food, which we had to keep cool in bags full of ice rather than coolers, no burgers to be seen!
Last weekend my mum and dad arrived in Hong Kong; such a nice break to get to see people from home. On the first day we went to Stanley (the beach/market place which I have mentioned previously), it was a scorching day and lovely to relax by the water with a beer or two!
Then the excitement happened... last week we were hit by a Typhoon! Although the wind was crazy and we heard some windows cracking, it wasn't half as scary as we expected and in all honesty not too different from some of the weather in the UK! Typhoon however meant no school for a day, hooray! Once the Typhoon had cleared we went for dinner at a restaurant called Aqua which has the most incredible view over the Hong Kong waterfront; an experience which I will never forget not only for the view, but also the food and the company.
The past weekend I have been in Singapore with my parents for the Formula One Grand Prix, something which I have always wanted to tick off my bucket list. :) Although I only made it to qualifying due to work back in Hong Kong, it was an incredible evening with the most amazing atmosphere! Qualifying was exciting and it's mindblowing to see how fast the cars are actually going, something you can't appreciate from the TV... a win for Lewis Hamilton always a bonus!
After the Grand Prix, Robbie Williams was playing on a stage within the track... unfortunately with the start of Robbie came a torrential thunderstorm. Despite no brolly or waterproofs, me and mum showed our love for Robbie and commited to the whole gig... singing and dancing in the rain to Robbie (who himself was getting soaked) was undoubtedly a moment I will never ever forget and was without a doubt a highlight of my time in Asia so far! We rounded the weekend off with cake at Raffles Hotel, which can be seen in my photo section... HEAVEN!
That's all the news to date, apart from teaching on my own for the next two weeks because my co-teacher has injured her shoulder and is therefore signed off school... BRING ON THE CHAOS!
Over and out xxxxxx
