It was a slow start today as our plan for dinner and a few quite drinks turned into dinner, a lot of drinks and Soi Cowboy, a street famous for it's go-go bars (the hangover 2 was filmed in one of them).
Needless to say it was a rather painful start as we headed towards the metro station to catch a train to Mo Chit bus station to buy our tickets for Chiang Mai on Thursday. Despite getting a bit lost it was a rather surprisingly easy process and we ended up going for the "VIP" bus, mainly because it was the only one with a toilet on board, that leaves at 9pm and will take around 10 hours to get there all for the grand cost of £15 each.
Now that we had secured the bus ticket our plan was to head to Or Tor Kor market which is rated by Lonely planet as the 4th best food market in the world. The market was really interesting to walk around as it sold everything from meat, live sharks (yes you read that correctly) and dried fish to fruit, vegetables and spices. We also had a delicious lunch from one of the vendors which cost us £1 each and sampled a few things that people offered to us all of which we had no idea what they were but mostly delicious. Just as we were planning to leave the heavens opened and we got stuck inside for a little while as the showers passed over us. The rain was torrential and it seemed that in only minutes the streets started to fill up and become rivers!
After the rain we made it back to the hotel where we are having a rest before heading out tonight. The plan is to find some crispy duck in China Town for dinner and then tuk tuk it over to Khao San Road to explore the night market and have some drinks.
