Martin and Louise left on the 2nd January late at night and then Sarah and I headed in the opposite direction on the morning of the 3rd. After a 2 hour boat to Koh Phi Phi, a change and then a 1.5 hour boat to Krabi we arrived in the early afternoon at our hostel in Krabi town.
Krabi is a really nice place and it was nice to be somewhere less touristy after 10 days on Phuket. The first day we arrived we got our bearings and had a wonder around town. Luckily for us it was a weekend so there was a fantastic night market offering all our favourite Thai food at ridiculously low prices. We ended up here both nights we were in Krabi enjoying the amazing food. The fried mussels were my favourite while Sarah fell in love with a curry stall. At one end of the market there was a large stage for karaoke so we enjoyed eating, drinking and watching Thai people sing English songs really badly!
While in Krabi we also went on a walk through the mangroves on a kind of neglected walkway which only added to the experience. On the 5th we jumped on the local bus to Ao Nang, a more touristy beach area 20km north of Krabi. Ao Nang is an awesome little town and we both really like it. The place we are staying is in walking distance of 2 great beaches sand all the restaurants and bars anyone could ever possibly need.
Yesterday we did a half day kayak through the mangroves which was excellent. At one point a monkey even jumped onto our kayak and sat on the end for a while as we paddled around! We both decided that of the 3 other kayak trips we have done this one was our favourite!
Tomorrow we are off to do a dive at one of the local islands. Fingers crossed for some good sightings! We are then back to Krabi for the night before leaving for Koh Lanta on the 9th where we are planning to meet some friends who we had met while in Cambodia!
