Last night I pulled out Dylans loose tooth. Just thought you'd all need to know...
We drove back down to the southern end of the Sunshine Coast again this morning, because we'd promised the boys we'd have a spin on the go karts. However, when we got there, they told us the double karts (for parents with kids under 12) were only allowed on the junior track, which was just a very small circle to go around and around. They'd let Jeremy drive on his own, and obviously, I could go alone on the big track, but Dylan wasn't allowed to. I didn't understand, as every track we've ever been to has double karts available, and this track is the largest commercial track in the southern hemisphere. So, rather than pay for us to be unable to be all together, we simply turned around and left. That showed them, we voted with our feet and walked away. Ha! There's another couple of kart tracks further south, and we know they have double karts on their normal track, so we'll take our business there...
Instead of simply coming all the way home again, we called in at Aussie World. It cost $100 for all of us to get in for the day, and that gave us unlimited rides. Ok, it's not Dreamworld or Movie World, or any of those major theme parks, but it's bloody good value and bloody good fun. The rides are exactly like you'd expect to find at any of the fairs or shows that make their way through towns these days, but have been permanently installed, and landscaped and themed etc. It's been done really well too, both Jo and I were pleasantly surprised at how well everything was presented. There's heaps of open spaces with tables and chairs and shade available, and the gardens and paths and landscaping is great. Jo played backpack and jumpers guardian, while the three of us boys went on as many rides as we could fit in. And the rides were suitable for all ages. Dylan was tall enough to go on all of them, but not brave enough to try some of them. Jeremy and I tried everything, but eventually I had to stop going on some of the spinning rides, or risk hurling my guts up all over the footpath. The thrill of the day though, were the dodgems. We may have lucked out at the go karts, but that was forgotten by the end of the day on the dodgems. The first couple of rides were busy, with a fairly large queue, and Dylan had to ride with me, or with Jeremy. By the end of the day though, the queues had disappeared, and we were going on them so much, that the guy allowed Dylan to drive on his own. (Ha! Up yours go karts!!) And he loved it. Around and around, trying to smash me or Jeremy at every opportunity, over and over again. He was hilarious, and if you could see him grinning from ear to ear, with his missing tooth and messed up hair... You'll get the idea from his smile in the photo's.
Anyway, it was 4 o'clock by the time we made a move to leave, and we'd been having so much fun, we'd completely lost track of time. We picked up a few grocery items on the way home, and decided to have soup for dinner rather than going out.
It's been another great day. Tomorrow we pack up and head to Tweed Heads, and we're back in NSW. We expect that's when the weather will turn, and we'll be back in long sleeves and track suit pants. Another couple of hundred kilometres closer to home, and believe it or not, I'm actually excited to be getting there...
