Today was yet again EPIC! I spent the morning with my beautiful niece, Jasmine, she helped me pick out a dress and shoes for the afternoon, and I was able to take her to get her second ear piercings. We did have to check everywhere in St Albans to find somewhere that would A. Do it with me signing as her Aunty not her Mum andB. Have the time to do it right then.
The first place wouldn't let me sign for it but I was glad that happened in the end because we found a gorgeous salon that looked after her so well. She was so brave and hardly even flinched. I was so proud of her!!!
Once we got back to Jen's , I got ready in record time. Aron you would be astonished how fast!!! Dress, hair and make up done, although to a pretty average standard, and we were out the door and on our way to Lord's for the day.
We arrived at Lord's Tavern and met up with Jen's school friends Chris and Arnie for lunch. They were both so friendly and welcoming!!! After lunch we headed into the Lord's Cricket grounds, getting in for free by pretending to be the wives of Chris and Arnie. We make our way to the members area and OMG! The place is stunning! The grounds were immaculate! The guys walked us through the Long Room, where the players walk through during all games including the ashes. This room had so much history, including a painting of Sir Donald Bradman!!! I couldn't resist and had to get a pic, doing so nearly had me turfed out,but I got it!!!!!!!!!
We moved upstairs to another bar area and the frovolaties continued. We spent much of the afternoon paying out on the British talk like spiffing, jolly good show ol' chap and the like. Was a really enjoyable afternoon. We headed back down to the first bar and I went to get the drinks. It was then that I noticed a massive portrait of Shane Warne on the wall. There were two old blokes sitting beneath it and they saw my reaction to the painting and asked what I was thinking. I told them him was a great cricketer, but a sleaze. They had a good old laugh and said they'd heard that numerous times before. Later on, one of the old dudes came down to talk to us then caught me again at the end of the match when he insisted on getting my contact details.
Arnie, Jen and I, because Chris had piked out on us much earlier, decided to head into Gordon's Wine Bar in London for a few more drinks. We were able to get a table in the actual bunker area this time. Still as amazing as the first time we went! The bartender we met last time bumped into me when I as ordering dinner and came back to say hello. Arnie had hit the wall in a big way and decided to leave and Jen and I weren't far behind.
I led a very tipsy Jen, just happy she as more affected by the alcohol than me this time (although I didn't post her antics on FB....), through to the train home. We spent the ride home realizing how amazingly spectacular day we had.
