Our first impression of Rothenburg was that it reminded us a little of Mont St. Michel. Not geographically, but the tourist atmosphere. We ended up driving down a one way street - the wrong way, and this man going the right way, rolled down his window yelled 'Einbahnstrasse!' meaning it's a one way street! Whoops! At that point, we called Alex to see where he was. He was already at the hotel. Then we called the hotel for directions. Erika, the hotel manager, was very helpful and after telling her we were at the Jack Wolfskin store, she told us to turn around and guided us to the hotel. We arrived 5 minutes later, and after hoisting our luggage up to the 2nd floor (really the third floor), we met Alex and Anna out on the terrace. They had already had a head start on the drinks b/c they arrived in Rothenburg 2 hours earlier. Rick Steves recommended the Night Watchman tour, which started at 8 pm. Being already 6:30, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. This was a good choice since the food was decent and service quick. We had our fill and went To meet the Night Watchman at the Rathaus. The square was packed! Apparently, many people had read the Rick Steves' book too. The Night Watchman was indeed a very entertaining medieval show. He was very funny in his delivery, almost like a comedian. After the tour, Alex, Anna, and we walked part of the wall of the town, then we stopped in the hotel bar/lounge for another Radler before calling it a night.
