The adventures of Pedro the Traveller
We spent most of today relaxing on the beach with the Brazilian´s messing about in the sea being battered by some powerful waves and rips. For lunch/dinner (we were there for about 3hours eating non stop!) we went to a place in Leblon (the posh neighbourhood) called ´Chico & Alaide´, it was created by a waiter (Chico) and a cook (Alaide) when they found out that the restaurant they were working in was only so successful because of them and so decided they would be better off with their own place, the food here was some of the best I have ever tasted with loads of little dishes and every single one being something new.
In the evening we went out to the Lapa district, an area which was (and still is) famous for it´s antique´s shops but is now better known for great night life. We went to a club called ´Rio Scenarium´ (a favorite with the Carioca´s) it was like no other club I have seen, it is 3 stories high and full of antique´s (over 10,000 apparently) from ornate hairclips to original leather horse carrage´s. There was great live music all night with samba until 2am and forro until 6am, the Brazilians were trying to teach us how to dance all night semi successfully but I´m not sure who was more exhausted by the end me from trying to learn or them from trying to teach!
I have decided that I really like Rio........ A LOT!!
