We didn't know what we were in for when we arrived back at the van after our lunch. An outdoor disco at the leisure centre was in full swing and continued to 11.00pm, at which time the roof lights finally stopped vibrating to the thump of the bass.
We got off fairly early and stocked up at a mysteriously laid out expensive Carrefour with sub-standard fruit and veg.
In one hours driving on a major motorway to Seville we were passed by 28 cars and overtook 2 lorries, 1 van and 1 car. Cruise control was set at 98km per hour and had we been driving at that motorways limit of 120 kph I doubt if more than 5 cars would have overtaken us. I had no need to touch the brakes in 95 kilometers.
We're on our own on a large car park aire a few minutes walk from the old town of Zafra. It's grey, showery and very windy. A strange procession passed by shortly after we arrived. An assortment of rather tattily decorated carts drawn by donkeys and ponies but mainly by tractors, a couple of small marching bands, half a dozen horse riders and that was it.
2 glasses of white wine came with 4 pickled baby aubergines and a bill for €1.60 !.
