Hello!
Sorry its taken so long to do this! so hard getting on the internet sometimes. I have arrived in Quito, Ecuador and its amazing! so so different to anywhere else I have been. We had a stopover/connecting flight in Panama City so we went into the city for a couple of hours, but just ended up chilling in the lobby of the Marriot Hotel - thought it would be pretty safe there! Since doing Canada, we flew to San Francisco from Calgary, and spent 3-4 days in the city, did Alcatraz prison tour one day which was really interesting. The place definately has a mysterious and slightly sinister atmosphere to it - Al Capone did time there! learnt about the escape attempts too like the famous one when they dug out of their cells with just kitchen spoons! Also walked across the Golden Gate Bridge which was great, got some cool pics and its such an iconic thing to see! Fishermans Warf down in SF bay was great too, went to Pier 39 where all the random shops and restaurants are, had a Corn Dog! Got the famous San Francisco Trolleys around the city too which was fun! Also went to Golden Gate Park which was beautiful, and absolutely massive too! rowed a boat aroudn the Stow Lake which is in the middle of the park, then looked around the bohemian hippy district of Haight-Ashbury that was cool seeing all the murals on the walls!
We took a day tour out to Yosemite National Park too, so glad we got to fit that in it was really beautiful again, the Yosemite Valley was amazing, saw the waterfalls too and the big mountain El Capitan! Its so hard to upload pictures from my camera on these computers but i will try to! We got a 12hr train down the coast to Los Angeles and relaxed on Venice Beach for a day, also going to see the Steel Panther gig with Steph and Kat! that was really awesome, so funny and they reallly put on a show! pretty rock n roll on the Sunset Strip!! we met up with Stephs sister Kym and she put us up in the Universtal Studios Hilton hotel for a night which was really cool! such a nice hotel! she drove us around LA the next day to see the massive houses in Bel Air and Beverly Hills. saw Rodeo Drive too and got some frozen joghurt yum yum!! then we went and had some dinner on the Santa Monica Pier before coming back to get the flight at 1am in the morning to Ecuador!! such a long day, managed to see some of Panama though as we had a connecting flight there. got into Quito quite late and looked around some of the Old Town today which was quite nice. Going to the Galapagos Islands tomorrow for 5 days!!! I cant wait!! should be a beautiful place to visit, one of the most diverse and amazing places on the planet so its a once in a lifetime opportunity! Hopefully i will have a few of those yet to come though!!
Anyway, hope everyone is doing okay and enjoying my blog!!
