Hello!! I am currently in Latacunga, Ecuador which is about 2 hours rickety bus ride from Quito! We got back from the Galapagos Islands and it was AMAZING! so many different animals and sea life that we saw its impossible to describe. Went to the main island Santa Cruz, then Floreana and Santa Fe. On the first day we went to the Darwin Centre and saw some giant tortoises. they were MASSIVE! And looked really ancient, even though some of them were quite young. One was called Lonesome George! Amazing creatures. We also went and saw some marine/land iguanas too! On the second day we went to Floreana, saw more giant tortoises which were amazing again, and a flycatcher bird too. Thick vegetation as we climbed up to the tortoises and volcanic rocks. The view below was awesome, really blue green sea with the rainforest below! We then went snorkelling in a bay, saw some PENGUINS! and swam with various multi coloured fish :). Saw sealions too, all layed out on the beach looking so lazy! what a life that would be! they swam right under us too it was incredible! saw Blue footed Boobie birds too and some iguanas. 3rd day we spent around Santa Fe i think (memory is already fading we did SO much!!!) and saw more spectacular fish, aswell as stingrays and also a sea turtle which swam right underneath me! really clear blue sea you could see so far down. the guide was diving right down into this massive school of fish, they all moved out the way then swam right back into formation. he was looking for sharks but we didnt see any. on the 4th day we went around Santa Cruz to Tortuga Bay spent that on the beach and saw some iguanas and pelicans. really really hot too! Clear blue skies it was hard not to get burnt!! Then we had a walk through these volcanic tunnels and caves which was awesome. lights led the way and i got some great pics of the cold lava rocks. 5th day was spent looking at the Twin Craters on the way to the airport. Massive craters where volcanic chambers had collapsed.
Back to Quito and we headed to the Equator Line, which is 0,0,0 on the GPS. Pretty awesome seeing the water go down the plughole anticlockwise one side, then clockwise the other. And it just went straight down when put on the equator line! Then we bussed it to Latacunga today so we can look around the Cotopaxi Volcano and Qualatoa Lake tomorrow! Already booked flights from Lima, Peru to the Amazon Rainforest (a place called Iquitos i think) which should be amazing. got about 5 days to get down into Peru and to Lima though. Some real long bus journeys ahead I think! Anyway, I am having an amazing time so far! Its going really well!!

Uncle Geoff Wow, you are having a great time, I only saw places by accident as I went about my business. Bye for now and thanks for the blog.
