1st March 2007 - Day 335
Checked in at about 3am after the longest customs queue in the world ever to Barranco´s backpackers in Barranco south of the city centre - promptly crashed out - it was 4 am Brazilian time.
First day and it was back to thinking about booking things up for the following week - Inca Trail etc. First chilled in Barranco a small suburb beach resort south of Lima. Pretty green and flowery square and churches - not quite what we´d expected from Lima! Later headed to Miraflores to see travel agent and sorted trip and flights to Cusco - train and bus at high altitude and windy roads are not reccomended.
2nd March 2007 - Day 336
Spent the day exploring Miraflores, visited the Waterfront which was very modern and we didn´t feel like we were in Peru at all!! Sat in one of the many restaurants overlooking the sea, eat a few fish dishes and watched as crazy people glided past in their paragliders just above our heads.
3rd March 2007 - Day 337
Headed off for some real Peru, into central Lima. We visited the Plaza del Armas and watched the changing of the guards at the government buildings, pretty impressive. Visited the oldest surviving church San Francisco and its errie catacombs. Ventured further a field to the central market with its many stalls, full of locals doing their thing.
4th March 2007 - Day 338
Spent our last day wandering around Barranco and Miraflores hoping for the sun to come out so we could go to the beach (it never did - plus the beach wasn´t that nice anyway!!)
