5th March 2007 - Day 339
Headed to the airport for our 9:00am flight, which was delayed by 2 hrs!! The flight was ok a little bumpy coming into Cuzco but otherwise safe as houses. Found a taxi to our hostel, but we were accompanied by a ¨friend´ of the drivers, who proceeded to try and sell us every tour going. We did however decide to go on a Sacred Valley tour with his company for tomorrow. Arrived at our Hostal (Suecia 2), which was very nice and very quiet compared to others we have visited!! Spent the rest of the day acclimatising to the 3400m altitude as we felt light headed on arrival.
6th March 2007 - Day 340
Set off on our guided tour of the Sacred Valley on a bus full of gringos. First stop a little market in the town of Pisac, full of the usual things, rugs, ponchos and alpaca jumpers. We then did a tour of several Inca ruins at Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero. The climb to the ruins was very hard going, the last Chinchero being at 3800m and we started to wonder how hard the Inca trail is going to be!! Arrived back at Cuzco and dined on Alpaca and trout peruvian style -very yummy!
7th March 2007 - Day 341
Spent the day trying to sort ourselves out for the Inca trail tommorow as well our bus trip onto Puno when we get back. Cruised a few very boring museos, which are included in a over priced ticket, note to anyone visiting Cuzco do not buy the Bolleto Turistico for ls70 its a rip off, the museo contemporary only had two rooms and one of these displayed a collection of Swiss stamps!! Dull as!!
