Hello!
So, arrived and settled in Masindi. We arrived monday and came out to our 'family' tuesday morning. We are staying alone with a woman in a small house just outside the town. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the centre of the town.
Masindi is a small town, but with a lot of stuff going on. At night it's filled with young men on the streets and in bars. And music everywhere. and during the day there's so many small shops that sell clothes and food and all kinds of plastic.
The woman we are staying with, Prossy, has four children (17 - 25), but all but one are in Kampala in school. So during the week we are alone with Prossy and a young girl, Shakila, who works for Prossy and cooks and cleans a bit. They are so nice and keep saying 'feel at home'.
Prossy has a shop in Masindi. And it is filled with fake flowers, cookies and all kinds of plastic junk. So funny. She also decorates at functions sometimes. Yesterday we helped her decorate a wedding here in masindi. we spent the whole morning making flowers out of coloured ribbons and balloons. It was a crazy decoration in only white and lavender and purple. in the afternoon we were invited to the wedding along with 400 others from the town. It was a very funny and special experience.
But all in all, we are very happy! People are so sweet and generous. I don't have a lot of time now, but i will write some more another day soon!
