Yet again another early start. The hike up to Triund was a distance of between 8km and 14km from M.G. depending on the guide book. We left our hotel at 8 am bought a couple of mars bars & water for lunch and headed up the hill. The cafe that we ate at the day before was on the way so we had decided that was where we were going to have our breakfast. In 20 minutes we were sat at the cafe waiting for my omelette and Sherv's pancakes and our chai. A good energy boost for the long day ahead.
The path up to Triund was very clear, wide it used to be cobbled but had since deteriorated. We were also accompanied by the local pack of dogs, a very friendly bunch who, it seemed to me wanted some exercise or most likely hoping for some food.
Us and the dogs were quite happy walking along when we came up to another cafe and the owner charged out and started hitting the dogs with a stick. All the pack accept one headed down hill, the one that got through a black vaguely sheep dog looking mutt got hit and had a limp for the rest of the walk. The cafe owner told us to scare the dogs because they attacked the sheep and wildlife. I hadn't seen a sheep so felt a bit dubious about this explanation.
The walk got gradually steeper, the path narrower, the drop off the side longer and the views ever more impressive. There were very few people on this walk so I felt the joy of being alone and being near nature and then we came across the last chai shop before the top. As it was
