Up at the crack of dawn and picked up by Koenig I was taken to the station, there I met a fellow student Dan from San Francisco. He was studying wireless tech for a certification. We were not sat next to each other so I used the time to sleep apart from waking up to have an omelette breakfast offered by the train service. We arrived in Kalka at 11:15 and had to change trains from the wide gauge to the high climbing narrow gauge. Built in 1904 with over a 100 tunnels, more bridges then I one can count and 800 bends. It is basically a tourist train. I was in a carriage with a UK OAP tourist party. I was sat in front of a pair if sisters who seemed a bit more travel wise and discreet than the rest of the group. It was amusing hearing the grandparents brag about their grandchildren. They also had these large pack lunches which had food left over so the sisters took pity in me and gave me some. The views from the train were impressive and I tried to take some photos but the track was too curvy or trees got in the way before I could take a shot.
Eventually we arrived in Shimla where we were picked up, taken to our apartment and then fed a delicious curry and rice, one of the best meals I had had in India. It slowly kicked in that traveling, for now, was over. It was time to be serious and study.
