We took a relatively light 5-hour "Nepalese flat" trek to Dingboche (4,400m) and stayed in a basic lodge owned by a Nepalese woman who speaks fluent French!
It is the first time we saw snow in this trek and apparently it is normal this time of the year from the afternoon as the temperature drops. As such, everyone stayed in the dining room where there was a fire chimney in the middle and had a bit of chit chat with each other. Sitting next to us was a group of trekkers from England (the guy next to me works a few doors away from my office!). There was also a group of Australians, a group of Slovenians and a father taking his two daughters up to the EBC without any sherpa or guide!
We stayed there a bit longer after dinner and played solitaire with real cards with our sherpa before we head for the sack as there was no light in our room and in fact pretty much everywhere else!
