We spent our second day in Panboche (3,900m) as the base and headed to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,500m) for acclimatisation.
Lakpa told us that it would be difficult as it was an entirely uphill climb and that it would be very windy and cold! So we put on the wind shell for the first time and it turned out very useful! 4-hour straight up was pretty tough, particularly in the beginning which was very steep and full of small stones which makes gripping very difficult.
Neverthelss we felt pretty good achieving the 4,500m mark without much problem and had a good close-up view of the 6,800m-tall Ama Dablam. We had a quick snack at the Base Camp, where there were a few groups of climbers on the way to the top as practice for summitting Mount Makalu (8,463m).
On the way down I was still hungry and the thought of Wagamama's Chili Beef Ramen sprung to my mind! That has to be the first meal back in Earls Court!
