Thursday 15 November 2012. Raining in Xian
It's our last day today so it's been spent travelling. We woke before 7am as the suitcases had to be outside the door by 8am. Went down to breakfast at 8.45, then back up to the room to clean our teeth then met our tour guide at 10am. It took nearly an hour to get to Xian airport where we dropped of the Americans, Greg and his daughter Jessica, first then the driver took us to our departure point where we waited for Vivienne who helped check us in and then it was time to say our goodby's to her. On the bus we exchanged email addresses with everyone and l said we should have a girl's night in Sydney next year….'cept for the Americans, naturally. The rest of the day has been uneventful so l'll talk about the show we saw last night. It was Chinese folk show mostly of the Tang Dynasty. It was really beautiful and l took heaps of photos. I liked this heaps better than the acrobat show although the two were entirely different. After the show Mum, Betty and l had our last night drinks in the hotel lounge then finally hopping into bed around 11am. I think l'm gonna have a good sleep on the plane tonight especially as l'm sitting in an airport lounge having a bottle of wine….oh yeah!!! The Americans, Greg and Jessica, loved us Aussies and our sense of humor. We also taught them how to drink…..at the beginning of the tour they were tee totallers and during our last meal they joined us in a beer and thanked us for making their trip so enjoyable. Debbie said that "she was sorry we didn't give a good impression of Australians…..we usually drink a lot more"….this had us all in gales of laughter. Throughout the tour me and my "Peeps" would always have a drink after a hard day touring and anything and everything we said was toasted with a "Cheers to that", so when the Americans gave their little speech we're all like "Cheers to that"!!!
Woo boy, this wine's goin down quite nicely thank you very much. Okay, so it's nearly 7pm and we're gonna order some pizza. We start boarding the plane to Melbourne at 8.30. We'll get fed on the plane but l'm thinking by the time we board, get settled, and the hosties stops farting around we won't get anything to eat until at least 10pm….that's if l not asleep by then. Ho hum, back at work on Monday….how boring after such a wonderful week.
Deb and mum said that the Warriors were the highlight of the trip. I loved climbing the Wall, the Warriors were fascinating, but the people l've met and drank with on the tour were fabulous….cheers to that!!!
