Amazingly our truck started this morning (we had even parked on a long even stretch of road in preparation for a push). Despite being in a tent near a highway, I slept really well last night. We had a long drive to Lake Argyle, via Turkey Creek, Doon Doon and Kununurra where we stopped for about an hour to have a look around. Frustratingly it was a public holiday and so nothing was open. We managed to find a coffee shop. When we arrived at Lake Argyle, Ben took us to a lookout where the view was unexpectedly scenic. The lake was man made by a dam in 1972 to service the local farms and stations. It is 21 times the volume of Sydney harbour, and last year so much rain fell that the water volume was equal to 42 times the size of Sydney harbour! When we got to Lake Argyle campsite we experienced a very heavy storm where rain exploded out of the sky and the wind caused our tents to look as though they were going to blow away. We got soaked, as the tarpaulin we used for our communal area blew off at one point. After the storm had blown over, we used the campsite's swimming pool which was an infinity pool overlooking the lake and mountains, with the pool having the appearance of no edges. Following our swim, 4 of us in the group went on a 2 hour boat cruise on Lake Argyle where we saw freshwater crocs, wallabies and birdlife. We were supposed to watch the sun set but it was too cloudy.
