25th July-
Spent the morning walking around Sofia. Walked up to the ladies market. It was mostly fruit and veggies for sale with some clothes and other random produce in stalls on the side. They looked to be cheap Asian imports so didn't bother to buy anything. Walked along till I reached another pedestrian mall and then strolled through there. As it was before 10am many of the shops were still closed. Walked back to the main centre and then down another pedestrian mall just enjoying been off the bus and the nice weather. Made it back to the hotel just after 11am so spent the time refreshing and then packed up my bag and on the bus at noon. Drove for a couple of hours till we reached plovdiv. It is a nice hotel in Plovdiv... But it is hot. Did a quick walking tour of the city but again was similar to what I had seen in may. So spent some time in the galleries as it was too hot to spent much time in the sun. Walked into the new pedestrian mall and looked around there, headed back to the hotel just after 6pm so I had some time to use the Internet and get ready to head out for dinner. Dinner was a at ale house that had beer taps on the table so everyone could pour their own drink. Enjoyed a clay plate of sizzling veggies. I really like this dish and will have to try and learn how to make a similar version. Then moved a couple of doors up to the pasha night club. On entry girls are given a stuffed toy... Bit random but it's Bulgaria so I guess anything goes. They haven't really improved their customer relations in bulgaria over the last couple of months. I find you have to really hunt down people to serve you when in shops.
