Our journey from Las Vegas to Fiji via LA started at eight on the morning of the 1st of March and we arrived in our resort at eight in the morning on the 3rd, don't you just love that date line we cross.
First came the drive from Vegas to LA, it had taken around five hours on the way out and we needed to have the car back by two so we left with plenty of time, I felt really sorry for Olof he was knackered while driving but a stop for a coffee with an extra stop perked things up a bit. It was pretty smooth in, well I still hate the traffic in LA, and I used the invisible passenger brakes many times. I do not understand the logic in being able to undertake! We got the car back bang on two o'clock which left seven and half hours before our flight left. Welcome to our home, Los Angeles Airport, it definitely takes the award for the worst airport I've been to. Nowhere to sit, not much to eat apart from McDonalds and no wi-fi to keep us entertained. We managed to get a good spot and spent a few hours playing cards, check in opened early at half four and we thought nice, we can get rid of our bags, go through security and sit in a bar, no such luck there is maybe one restaurant and one shop the other side so it was a case of fight for a seat and sit it out. Finally we took off at half nine for our eleven hour flight to Fiji, it wasn't a bad flight I saw a good movie and slept most of it as it was a night flight. Oh and we changed our watches the 21 hour time difference between LA and Fiji, crazy! Landing at five in the morning on the 3rd our journey wasn't over and the sun was still down, we had a two drive to our resort on the Coral Coast.
Last time we were here we did the Yasawa Islands but for something different we'd decided to stay on the mainland and have ten days in one place, which is nice after 13 different hotels in 28 days! We are staying at Mango Bay Resort and it is really gorgeous, unlike others on this coast the main road is away from the resort up the mountain so you come down a gravel drive to get here. It has it all beach, pool and forest right outside our room! We have definitely got the heat now but we spent our first couple of hours here in the open sided restaurant watching the rain pour and then the blue skies took over and we had a perfect day. Maybe a little two perfect as we had to come inside, our skin can't cope all day just yet! We walked up to the restaurant which looks out over the ocean for dinner, dodging the frogs under our feet as we went and had a lovely meal. Then it was time for bed as technically we had our last sleep on the 28th and it's not the 3rd!
