We're pleased to announce we made it to Perth, fashionably three days late! We had a pretty long day to make it here, leaving our hostel in Auckland at 3 a.m. to catch the six o'clock flight to Melbourne where we had another four hour connecting flight to Perth. At the airport we took a shuttle into the city centre and then a bus out to Scarborough where we are staying, on the bus we encountered our first "helpful, tourist friendly" Australian (note the sarcasm!) so having no clue where to get off we rode right to the beach knowing it wouldnt be too far to walk. Obviously hostel maps exaggerate how close they are to beach so we were getting a little lost, now we encountered a truely helpful guy in a car park, he didnt know the road we needed so out came his road atlas and he was looking around for street signs for us, so we thanked him a lot for putting us on track!
So the hostel we're staying at is only (once we found it!) five minutes from Scarborough Beach so after dumping our bags and checking in we popped down to check it out, finally we can enjoy the sun! It is a pretty nice surf beach with gorgeous white sand, I think we'll be quite happy here for the few days we have before we pick up the campervan.
Today we were awake early, it must be the jetlag and we looked out of the window to see awesome blue sky, this is what we have been waiting for! After breakfast we were off to the beach, Olof cant sit still for long so we were in the water with the, to me, big waves! After drying off we grabbed some lunch and sat in the amphitheatre overlooking the beach and done a spot of people watching! We had to laugh there were a grougp of girls who were typically British, pale and blotchy red, one said to the other "you're getting a lovely colour!" Why oh why do we blatently lie to eachother, who are we kidding?!
We confess to be a little sad but I especially, dragging Olof along with me have got into the spirit of the Royal wedding so came back early to watch the coverage! At least I'll never forget where I was on for it and yes, I did really enjoy watching it all! I love how completely British we can be!
