I've taken the opportunity of an afternoon of rain to catch everyone up on what we've been doing. Honestly, not a lot unless you count going from our sunbeds to the pool or into the ocean! If last time Fiji was an experience this time it has been a complete holiday, we're not complaining!
A couple of days ago we did two dives, at least we can now say we have dived Fiji the second time round! It was definitely worthwhile and being somewhere you wouldn't necessarily travel to as it is so far away from home made it a good tick in the box. Both the dives were on the outside of the reef at around twenty metres and from the instructors' reaction we were pretty spoilt with what we saw. On our first dive at Snap, Crackle we were joined for most of it by a white tip reef shark. We pretty much did as we pleased on the dives while the instructor had a two Discover Scubas on top of the reef so we just took our time and enjoyed been back in the water. Water that is like a bath, I was sceptical diving in just shorts and a t-shirt but it was 29 degrees! We also caught sight of a huge green sea turtle, unfortunately it was heading out into the blue. After a short surface interval that was increased by us driving out to the second dive site only to see that someone (the instructor!) had forgotten her fins so it was back to base to pick them up! Finally back below the surface and only a few minutes into the dive we had below us a black and white banded sea snake that was a little over a metre long. We were probably five metres above but it was curious and came within touching distance to take a look at us. We were lucky to have another two turtles this time hawk-bills and also a spotted eagle ray. Unfortunately that is all the diving and now we have to stick with a snorkel!
Apart from our diving we have just been enjoying Fiji time and apart from the five hours of rain we've had today we have been very lucky as it is their wet season. Tomorrow with be our last day on the Coral Coast and after a quick night's stay in Nadi we will be moving on to New Zealand.
