Breskens turned out to be a lot more than we expected and we enjoyed a walk into the centre for some bread and ham before preparing to depart at 11:00. Acroos the Scheldt we closed the beach of Walcharen and then followed the coast of the island for six miles, just a few hundred metres offshore. Beaches that were full of people enjoying the glorious weather, but we saw no bathers as the water temperature had not reached 12deg.
Our trip across the Delta was interesting with several dog's leg sectors avoiding shallows, before approaching the Maas entrance. There having decaklred our presence to Maas Control we waited for two ships entering and then lost a slot to cross so had to wait for 3 ships departing and one going out then back in. Meanwhile the wind had veered and increased so we now had a six on the nose for the last 11 miles.
Arriving very salty the marina was solid with boats and my "misunderstanding" of our berthing instructions resulted in my taking a very convenient vacant berth on the advice of a local, the Havenmeister didn't seem too worried that I had "disobeyed" him and we had a very peaceful night.
The shoreline of the marina is full of waterside restaurants all doing very good trade in the warm evening sunshine, it all looked very inviting.
