The rain had eased and we unravelled our selves from our box mooring, the distance between the posts, which were too close to get between, and the shore staging was less than the length of the boat so we had to perform some unusual extraction technique to get out. Having done so we tidied up and set off into a lumpy sea with a SE 5 blowing.
We managed to sail for about an hour before being headed and then with only about four miles to go we motor sailed to the approach to the narrow channel between Falster and Mon. The clouds separated, the sun came out and while it was still blowing hard we motored into an area similar to a very large Poole harbour. Approaching Stubbekobing we found the stakes marking the channel in and proceeded to enter.
The commercial harbour had a few larger boats in and the visitors haven had only small masts. We went into the commercial harbour and decided that we had better try the visitors haven so went out and turned towards the east. The depth dropped and we reversed back, tried again in another route and again down to 2.1m (we need 2.0m), so we reversed out and gave that up re-entering the commercial harbour to tie onto the dock wall.
Not a pretty place and ashore was in a state of refurbishment, half done at best, and probably run out of dosh as it was an abandoned improvement site, but anyway it was clean and the other yachs seemed content, helped us in, and all seemed well. The Havenkantor asked where we were when I paid and helped me with the automatic payment machine whistling through his teeth when I said we were from Britain!
It had stopped raining but was threatening more - hey ho!
