Why hello again everyone!
I didn't think I would be writing about my next adventure so soon!! However, after having such a great time with Annette and family in Byron, they asked if I would be coming down to Surfers while they were there the following week. There was also talk about Wet 'n' Wild water park...
So off I went again down to Surfers for a second time, again glad I did! On arriving I headed straight for the beach and thought I would try and have a little nap to make up for the 5am start that mroning0- although it was not to be!! It was actually too windy!!Normally I am thankful for a little breeze on the beach so the heat isn't quite as intense. But this breeze was making sand fly everywhere and after a few hours I had had enough and decided to head of to the mall for some lunch.
After lunch Annette called to say they had arrived and we all met on at the WOSP (Wheel of Surfers Paradise) which is situated on top on the transit centre in Surfers. While we were there we watched a reptile show, all about the poisonous snakes here in Australia and how to handle (or not) them which is handy for me! They had python's , red belly black snake and tiger snakes. So we learnt what to do if you see one, what to do if you are standing right next to one and what to do if you get bitten by one! So yes very interesting! Afterwards, little did I know, I was to have my picture taken holding one (thanks Greg! lol) Not only was I holding one, I had it around my neck!! Not something I thought I could ever do! So there I was, standing there with a python round my neck! Little scary I must say...
Once that was over it was time for me to head back to my backpackers and get ready for a big night out that Surfers wouldn't be complete without! I had arranged to go on a bar crawl around surfers. Now I hadn't had chance to make any friends by thus point as I had been out enjoying myself all morning so it was time to go it alone...
Once I arrived I got chatting to this group of aussie girls straight away which was fine. We started off in Bamboo nightclub at 5pm! Seemed very odd to start partying in a nightclub that early- but hey im on holiday! So after hitting the next club I decided these girls were a little boring so I got chatting to some aussie lads instead. Boys are so much more fun and before we knew it we were downing shots and dancing the night away from club to club! After about 5 clubs i think it was? Bamboo, Sin City, Twenty1, Vanity,Shooters and Melbas. By about 5am I think we eventually called it a night!
After waking up feeling a little worse for wear, partying for 12 hours, drinking and lack of sleep it was time to head off to Wet 'N' Wild. I was really looking forward to it although my head and tummy were not so keen! Once we arrived and went in and headed straight on the rides! We had a great day there, water slides, going down water chutes on our own and in rafts. We went on the black whole, which is a water chute you go down in complete darkness! Me and Amy went on this together and she was screaming the whole way but loved it! We went on another one where all 5 of us sat in a ring and went down a chute- Greg was so funny! The faces he was pulling were hilarious! Me and Annette went on a waterslide each, although I didn't realise they were different and I had picked the steepest slide to go down! It wasn't until I reached the bottom wondering how I went so fast that I realised the slide was pretty much vertical!! Not sure if I would have had the same enthusiasm beforehand if I had know that!! Lol
We didn't manage every single ride but we managed most of them with a few extra turns on some and before we knew it, it was time to go...
There are just not enough hours in the day over here to fit in all the fun...sad but true!
Once I got back to Tanah Merah, unfortunately I got sick. I now know that it was tonsillitis but at the time I just thought I had overdone things, what with going away and having mad busy weekends for the last few weeks, all the travelling in a short space of time and working as well...
So I actually spent most of Monday in bed and had a quiet day Tuesday. The eldest boy I look after- Lucastarted school on Monday so things were pretty hectic anyway but Mum and Dad had taken the day off to go with him and pick him up which was nice. Wednesday was Australia day here. I wanted to go and join the celebrations in Brisbane however due to the floods most of the celebrations (as they were being held at Southbank which is still closed off) were cancelled as because I was still feeling pretty poo I decided to take it easy and me and the family all went to Broad beach for the day. Which funnily enough is also right next to Surfers Paradise . So we had the lovely view of the high risers next to the beach but without the crowds! So we enjoyed a lovely day of laying on the beach, eating free ice creams handed out by the (rather hot!) lifeguards at the beach. We made sand castles and went body boarding in the sea with the kids in the 33 degree heat! Happy Australia Day!!
Things went back to normal crazy on Thursday- now added to the fun is a school run! So off we went to school in the morning and dropped Luca off and me and Zander enjoyed the morning just the 2 of us before we had to go and pick Luca up fromschool again. I have made some 'mum' friends at the schoolso me and Kat walked home from school with 5 kids, and I must say it was very strange but I enjoyed it! Crazy but kinda fun!
By Friday I had given it to the little 2 year old (some say I'm mean I say I'm generous!) so we had another quiet day at home while he was resting it out. Spent a majority of the day on the sofa watching the wiggles (his favourite!) eating ice cream.
This weekend I am enjoying lots of lazing around, sleeping and generally chilling out. Just what the doctor ordered!!
Only 3 weeks left now until I head up to Hervey Bay so need to be on top form ready to celebrate my 25th birthday in style on Fraser Island!!
Until then....xxx
