This day deserves a blog of its own...
OMG what an awesome day I have had...today I went to Australia Zoo.
After a nice early start of 5am I headed into Brisbane CBD to catch a coach up to Beerwah on the sunshine coast to head off to Australia's number one tourist attraction. Now I see why!
Once I arrived, I was a little daunted by the size of the place and the amount of things to do that I wasn't sure how I would fit it all into one day! But I thought I would give it a go...
As I walked in the first thing I saw was the Steve Irwin Tribute. As I walked around there were keepers everywhere holding snakes and lizards and walking the dingos that was before I had really seen any animals!! The first thing I saw was the world famous crocodiles which are pretty fascinating on their own. As I continued round and saw various other native Australian wildlife it was time to feed the elephants.
What a way to start the day, feeding an African elephant! So I hand fed this gorgeous animal with fresh pumpkin and zucchini (courgette to us poms) whilst being very careful not to get to close or into the 'trunk zone' so he didn't send me flying if he didn't like my choice of food! However, I was lucky he liked me and that was a fantastic experience!
Shortly afterwards I was able to do what every person should do on a trip to Australia, I had a cuddle with a koala! They are such gorgeous animals and it was like having a cuddle with a teddy bear, although teddy bears do not tend to dig their claws into your arms and shoulders but he was so cute you can't help but love them anyway!
Following that, I also held a baby croc which was another fantastic experience! With everything a much larger croc would have on a smaller scale they really are fascinating creatures and one I have always been amazed by...
As if that wasn't enough great experiences (all before 11am I might add) it was time to head to the world famous 'Crocoseum'.I was really excited about this part of the day as I had heard so many great thinks about this place!
They started of showing various snakes and explaining what to do in case of a snake bite. They then showcased several different birds. Parts, cockatoos, lorikeets...Tell you what though, these animals are amazing! They were like actors, came in right on Que, and flew around the crocoseum perfectly! All to some awesome rock music- it was brilliant!
Guess what came next? Yep the saltwater crocs, along with the dangerous 'dur dur,' music. They swam out and the keepers were feeding him bits of fish and chicken from the stand so he had to jump up and catch it and then getting him out of the water to eat. Totally amazing to watch these crazy people play with this huge dangerous animal!
Following this I headed down to 'South East Asia' to see the elephants again and arrived just in time for the 'elephant talk' where the clever keepers once again showed us what these amazing animals can do! They had them standing on 2 legs, showing us their teeth and bottoms of their feet as well as actually lifting the keeper up with his trunk!!
I went again to the Crococeum to see another show as it was that good, but by that time I was running out of time so I went round to see the other crocs, the wombats, the Tasmanian devils, the dingos, and all the other native Australian animals.
Also headed over to 'Roo Heaven' and spent some time feeding the kangaroos which is always a great experience no matter how many time you do it! And they are always happy to see you!
That is just a taste of how good the day was, if I told you everything we could be here all day but it really was the most amazing day and not the early start, amount of travelling or the 30 degree heat was going to spoil it!
I have uploaded the pictures so you can all have a look at what I got up to!
That was probably my last little 'Brissie adventure' while I'm here as I'm leaving in a week and a half to head up to Fraser Island for my birthday which I'm really excited about!
If any of you are thinking the same as my Dad and asking what's next...then you can keep wondering as that is exactly what I am doing! No idea what's next...and so excited about it!
Speak to you all soon xxx

Kate and Chloe! Sounds like an amazing day, I am very jealous!! So pleased you are having such a great time. Look forward to the next update when you decide what you are going to do!!! xx
Daddy Hey wanderer, I think the whole of Queensland is wondering what you are going to do next, they are counting the days to you leave them. Their weather was fine until you arrived! I saw the pics on facebook and the place looks fantastic, isn't it odd how so many Aussie animals have sharp teeth or sharp claws or a particularly nasty bite or sting? Must be the climate. I hope it has cooled down a little for you and the humidity is a little kinder. The further north you go the worse it will be I fear (temperature wise) quite the reverse from home. Thank heaven your camera decided to work properly again, keep the pictures coming and please don't be shy in letting us know when you decide upon your next adventure down-under... Love you always Daddy xxxx
Anne Kohler Hi Jen..what wonderful experiences you are having !!!! Love the Koala .. would you please bring one back for me for Christmas. Lots of love and stay safe. XXXXXX
