We spent another lovely day together just roaming the busy streets of barcelona. We visited La Sagrada Familia - one of Antoni Gaudi's masterpieces that has been under construction since 1882 and is yet to be completed. We walked around looking at all the different facades of the church and admiring it, but decided to come back tomorrow to see it from the inside as they were closing at 2pm (just like everything else in Spain on a Sunday).
We then made our way to another of Gaudi's beautiful creations - Park Guell. It's a fairytale park situated on a hill which offers the most beautiful views of the city of Barcelona and the Mediterranean sea.
The next stop was the Casa Batllo which was a building that Gaudi restored for a rich family. The building has fancy shops in it now but the unique design is said to be representing St George slaying the dragon.
We returned to the hotel for a quick rest before heading out for some lunch and a glimpse of the French Open men's final. We wanted Federer to win but we knew Nadal would probably win as he is the clay master. Sure enough - Nadal got the job done. Unfortunately we couldn't understand the commentary, we only had a choice of Spanish or German. We then had a quick siesta before heading out to see the magic fountain. This fountain was built about 80 years ago and has heaps of water jets that move to a great choreographed routine. There are accompanying lights and music also and this display takes place at the foot of the Barcelona art museum which has been converted from a palace. As the photos might show, it was quite a sight and one that we shared with a couple of thousand people.
Our last stop was the restaurant next to our hotel - Bar Lobo. Regular readers might remember that we had breakfast there the other day. It is always packed and looks really cool so we wanted to try dinner there as well. We grabbed a quick meal which was surprisingly reasonably priced and then headed to bed for some rest before our final day, where most of our sightseeing will be done.
Buenas Noches Amigos.
