Day 201, 21 January 2013. Bansko, Bulgaria. Pictured is the little market that sprouts each day in the Old Town square - sunny and 4.8 degrees C. Cracking day. It has recently come to my attention, since we've both come to a grinding halt, how busy we usually are. The challenge is now therefore to come up with something vaguely amusing to write about after 3 days in PJs. Pas de Probleme, Mes amis! Today, oui, oui, I got out of my PJs!!! Quick, call the news agencies.... "In late breaking news today from our correspondent in Bansko, Bulgaria, we can report, exclusively, that Vivienne, though not James, actually put on clothes AND left the chalet. She was seen walking in the Old Town and purchasing items of a pharmaceutical nature at the drug store".... Can't see the UK tabloids holding the presses for a photo, but you never know. James was in fact on the verge of coughing himself into oblivion (and beyond), having used up every ounce of flu medicine at our disposal. So with a handbag full of leva I went to investigate the English fluency at the local pharmacy. Actually very good. Hardly any charades required on my part and face it, her English was 1000% better than my Bulgarian. Brought back a memory of buying flu medication in the centre of Xian, China many moons ago. No one in the pharmacy had a word of English, but medical charades came into their own and nobody was poisoned. Score "1" for the sick guys. Once I returned to the hobbit hole with all manner of medication, it was deftly applied to the patient and improvement was seen quite markedly by the evening. So if in doubt, treat illness the way the good lord intended. Rest. Fluids. And lots and lots of DRUGS!
