Day 197, 17 January 2013, Bansko, Bulgaria - Skiing in Bansko.... Put your hand up if you see a pattern developing here... The picture today is a night view of our Old Town neighbourhood fountain - it's started to defrost a bit since we arrived, but cool to see the steam rising and the ice encrusted water spouts. We experimented with a late start today. Usually we get up at 7.15, eat at 8, get our lift to the gondola at 9 and start skiing for the day at 10. So by "experimented" with a late start I mean the ski school shop mucked up our booking and gave our guide to someone else for the morning session for today/tomorrow. So today we got up at 9, ate at 10, lift to gondala at 11 and started skiing at 12 noon. Turns out the force is just not as strong at that time of the day. Due to some misguided keen-ness, our first run was a black which was a bit tiring after half a metre of new snow. I was a sook for the rest of the day and only took every third run with a strained thigh. James ploughed on. Still a fun day out.
