After viewing the medieval cloister at St Paul's, we had lunch and cappuccinos. Once this was done, we drove over to the Vatican area to see Castel Sant'Angelo. Amidst our many Monty Python references ('we already got one!'), we viewed an incredible structure that's served many purposes during the history of Rome, including mausoleum, city defence, and papal sanctuary. Very awesome, and offered a great view of the city and of the Tiber.
Once we finished our tour of the castle, Marilyn drove us to the Rome observatory area, up on a hill overlooking the city. Fantastic view, and we ate some equally fantastic gelato as we admired the Eternal City. Weather was fantastic in Rome today.
After that, we drove out to Axa to go for dinner with Carlo and my cousins Sylvia and Steffi, as well as Steffi's boyfriend and the girls' cousin Steffi (yes, exact same name haha). Enjoyed pizza, wine, and above all, a lot of good conversation and family time with family I don't get to see nearly enough! A fun night!!
