Viewed the Buda side of the city today. Walked across the city's Chain Bridge to the other side, viewing St Matthias Church first, along with a set of steps known as the Fisherman's Bastion, which serves as a great viewpoint of the city.
Made our way past the castle to the Citadelle, which served as one of the last pockets of German and Hungarian resistance. It offers an amazing vista of the city atop it, and the Liberty monument beside it overlooks the city. Inside, a fortified air raid shelter was the key strong point in the last days of the defense of Budapest during the siege, before the remnants of the German and Hungarian forces evacuated from the city west to Vienna.
The air raid shelter now serves as a museum of sorts, with wax figures and a lot of information on the siege of Budapest. Very cool!
