Last full day in Paris. Pierre and I took it very easy today, before meeting four of his friends from Sherwood Park on Pont Neuf at one. From there, we grabbed lunch before heading over to Notre Dame, which is just as beautiful the second time around. Then, we headed to the Jardin des Tuileries, relaxing in the fleeting sun. As an aside, the weather in Paris is very much the same as when we were here in May... Alternating between cloudy with periods of rain and sunny. However, there are now many, many more people in Paris due to the peak tourist season.
From the Jardin des Tuileries, we walked the length of the Champs Élysées, down past the trendiest, most expensive shops in town to the Arc de Triomphe. Once again, very impressive and grand.
We hit the grocery store and picked up an assortment of meats, cheeses and bread, as well as wine, champagne, strawberries and grapes, hauling it all to the Champs du Mars, where we sat, chatted, hung out and gazed up at the Eiffel Tower as the sun set. In doing so, we close out the trip much as we started it... With a picnic with friends in front of Paris's most distinctive landmark.
