Wednesday was very overcast with threatening rain clouds hanging low as we set off for Havelock. Blustery, strong winds assault us as we drove around the Tasman Bay coastline and, as we drove up through the hills, the rain kept us company off and on.
We found Havelock to be a sleepy little town, right at the edge of Pelorous Sound. It wasn't too cold even though the day was dark and dingy. We checked into the camp ground and decided to take Pat's advice and go to Allan Scott Family Vineyard for lunch, towards Blenheim.
A lovely drive through the valleys of grape vines, vineyard after vineyard. Family names I see, Cloudy Bay, Brancott, Yealands, Giesen and on and on. Photos couldn't really show the expanse as there is no high point we could see in the surrounding area, which could afford a decent view. But it was truly impressive!
Lunch was well worth the drive, however the heavens opened on our journey home and this was just the start of big rains.
