Last Day Hanoi
I'm bloody wrecked today and so is George and we are both ready to leave Hanoi. But we gave it one last stab and hit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the Hanoi Hilton Prison (which is where they should have shoved Paris), the museum of Ethnography, the Hom market, the cinema and I got a pedicure in this fancy spa for $10. bloody hell we did a lot actually. Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum was so busy when we turned the corner to view the building about500 meters away we could see hundreds of buses and thousands of people. Popular guy eh! We were carted through security and had to give up our water and cameras. We were forced to skip the queue where we met a Canadian Lady. She was traveling through Vietnam for a month, then onto Cambodia, followed by Loas and finally Indonesia. All by herself she was and full of the chat so we hung with her going into see the body of Ho Chi Minh. I expected to see a gruesome body like a mummy or something but what we were met with was an eerie sight as he was preserved to well I mean he looked like he was sleeping, he was in a snow white like glass case expect there wasn't 7 little men standing around it but 4 armed guards staring suspiciously into the crowd. I felt like I was invading his private space I nearly started tip toeing so not to wake him up.
Than we walked our tired arses over to the prison which was difficult to find but we got there. It was very interesting the way the prisoners of the revolution were treat by the French was diabolical. later on American pilots were put there in the vietnam war but they were treated so much better. It was a very good sight interesting and there were torture apparatuses there too. Then we got a taxi to the museum of Ethnography which was clear across town. It would have been so much more interesting if we weren't wrecked. but never-the-less we ploughed through it and there was a heritage park outside it and the houses were fair cool. After this we got a taxi back into town to the Hom market and walked to the cinema to see the x-file movie. Trailer ads here are hilarious they are full of sexual innuendo. Very funny and the acting is well comical without actually being that way. One ad was the funniest, there was a couple sitting down after an engagement party at there house and like are looking into each others eyes and the man suggests going up stairs to do it and they romanitically walk up the stairs smiling and holding hands went a springing sound comes on and the woman's face chances its about fanny pads ha ha she had her period. What an ad!After this we walked to the church off Hoan Kiem Lake called St.Josephs then onto some shops. I decided to get a pedicure at 7.50 and George headed home. at 8.40 I was still waiting to get my bloody toes done. got it done eventually and would recommend it! $10 you couldn't go wrong and mum she didnt speak to me once and did my cuticles and gave me and foot and leg massage just like you would expect. Looking forward to tomorrow we're getting a flight to Hue.
