Today was the day of all treks!!
We rocked today (you know how I love my walks Valerie).
I like to think we walked at least a marathon's length. Georges shirt was translucent at the end of the day ha ha he looked like a bag of chips ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!! (for you CM)
We started off the day with a banana since we have too many now. WE headed straight for the Military Museum. What a museum it was amazing, real artillery vehicles (rory it was wet dream material ha ha), war plane (all American ha! ye lost the war), tanks, bombs, rockets, and a helicopter. Unreal the history of war from the French to the yanks they did it all and beat them. Did you know that German and Polish citizens sent blood and medicine to the Vietnamese soldiers how sound is that. That place is definetly worth a visit unbelievable! We got some food there to at the highland café and that is also a must do here very good.
We then head to Uncle Ho's Mausoleum which is in such a lovely area we missed the opening times so we're going back on Sunday after we're back from the bay. Ho Chi Minh (the most influential leader of Vietnam) wanted his body to be cremated and spread all over Vietnam and very humble man but the people loved him so much they mummified him and build an amazing tomb and a wonderful museum which we also went to see another definite for any traveler here, Art and beauty mixed along with a great man Uncle Ho as they call him.
We went to the botanical gardens where they were shooting for a wedding catalogue pretty setting.
Then off to Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts which was awesome. Seriously I know he was all for communism, but this country needed someone to level the playing field as there was and still sis so much poverty. It worked for them the poor needed liberation. He was an amazing man very down to earth always concerned about the farmers and ensuring their way of life was good. Hats off to Uncle Ho!
We rounded the day off at the top of Hanoi and en walked another 2 miles to get good sea food and we did. Note to all travelers from Ireland if your like me and eat fibre and are used to bowel movement it does exist here like the rule of the road 4 days with no movement was horrible; but today I broke the cycle thank god but I had to wait til we got back as the door in the restaurant loo was broken and no loo roll! Ahh! So we said we'e get a taxi away but when you want one, they are never there. I counted today that we got asked if we wanted a lift 45 times but when we wanted one NONE. That's the irish luck. Don't worry about 10 mins into the walk home we struck gold and we got home safely with a very funny taxi man NOT he just kept saying the street name and laughing.
By the ay the shoe shops wow there is a shoes that was made for every dress in the world very good choice.
