So despite over 2 hours soaking in a hot tub my thighs are still protesting about the glacier climb! (I really am so unfit!) this morning i woke overly early (again - you'd think being on holiday I'd booked some lie ins but no that would be way too clever!!!!!) and after a coffee caught the bus to Greymouth arriving just in time to catch the TranzAlpine train to Christchurch. Seriously a spectacular train ride through first the rainforest and then the mountains before coming out into the Canterbury plains. Although I was bemused by the indian family sat next to me who just seemed to read the whole way and not really look outside at all, also that when they argued they suddenly switched to english which seemed strange but may be thats just me?!?! Some little kid commented on how much he liked my sunglasses, he was wearing very cool night vision spy glasses so I take this as a compliment
Once I got to christchurch (& taxied to the hostel as I was too lazy to wait for the shuttle - I'm so not cut out for back packing!) and checked in with a quick change and a curse of the eyebrow fairy (can she not also take a holiday while i'm away rather than working twice as hard?!) I wandered off in search of food (mexican) and jive
so spent 2 hours at the smallest jive lesson i've ever been to (10 people plus instructors) and as it was my first night it was free (although it was also their last night due to dwindling numbers) good fun although apparently I have a very UK style and point my toe rather than stepping back. Not sure why jive places need to be in the middle of industrial estates, but don't worry mum the bus stop was only round the corner!
