Hey,
So arrived in Taupo with the inention of staying 2 night and trying to get a sky dive done. The evening that we arived they told us that wecouldnt do the jump due to weather conditions but they would put us on the list for the follwing morning. So for the rest of the day i just wondered around Taupo untill i found an info centre. I poped i and asked, as it had cleared up could i do a jump, they phoned they company an said yes they would pick me up in 15 mins. Half excited and half S!itting myslef i ran back to the hostel to get my stuff ready. The mini bus arrived and took us all to the mini airport. We all checked in and got weighed and sat and waited our turn. While waiting i met Rob and Marian and quickly made friends with them. Marian had done a ump b4 in Oz but was more nervous then Both me and Rob. After about 45 mins of waiting the weather got worse and it started to rain. The jump was cancelled and a plane full of people had to return. Guttted !
We were told that we would be put on the list for a jump the following day at 2pm and to call them 15 mins b4 to see if the jump would still go ahead. So we spent that night having a few drinks and paying pool at the hostel. The next morning the weather was shocking and it only got worse. It threw it down for most of the day. so much so that we took our selfs to the cinema (persuit of happyness, good film). 2pm came and went as it continued to rain. At about 3:30 it started to clear up and blue skys were showing so we decided to go and walk to the Taupo Bunji site where Rob wanted us to do a Bunji (FOOL !!) so off we set, we arived about 4pm and noticed the sky was looking much better so we thought we wold give the Sky dive centre a call, they told us that there was a posability we could jump and they would pic us up at 5:20pm. As expected i opted out of doing a bunji but took great pleasure in watching Rob throw himself of a 47mtr bridge. No sooner had we collected his jump photo's and DVD did the bus arrive for the sky dive. So once again we got in the mini bus to the airport.
Proabaly due to it being the second time we had ben thee, and still feeling as though we would not get to jump, we were much more relaxed (apart from Marion) This tim e we even managed to get suited up but we still didnt belive we would get to jump. Then we weer shown a short...very short safety video and introduced to the Dive masters who we would be jumping with. They fixed all the harnesses on and chated away to us. I advised my guy (Mojo) tat my harness was not tight an was slipping off my shoulder to which he replyed "oh..... thats nevered happened b4" I knew this was coming and that they would try and mess with me but as he tried to tighted it and saying "well thats as tight as i will go" i started to get a little on edge. The banter continued on the ground and even i the plane, which helped with the old butterfly's I was looking out the window noticing that 12000 is VERY high !! and chating away when out of th corner of my eye i noticed a little gren light apear near the door...Oh o !! Mojo (my guy) suddenly got very serious as did all the others, he started quickly going over what i need to do once we reached the door and once we are free falling, much to my releaf he tightened up all the harness and the door opened.
Rb was to first to jump and i would be second. Robs guy shufled himslef to the edge of the plane dangled their feet over the edge and told rob to mile at the camera and then in a flash they where gone. I rememer thinking about how quick and violently he had flown under the plane and down. Before i knew it i was sat i the same posittion 12000 in the air with my feet hanging out of a plane, i looked left smiled and then.... gone, the world spun out of controll for about 5 seconds b4 we leveled out and i could see the earth below me. Ask any one who has done it, its hard to describe the feeling. Just Awsome. I went mad (check the pics). The freefall felt like it lasted a LONG time but soon enough Mojo opened up the parachoot (cant spell) much to my releif and the whole world seamed to stop. Lake Taupo is stunnig especially at that time of day. Mojo let me fly us down for a bit which was again awesome. Once we had landed we went and reviewed the pics and DVD's and wakling on air went back to the hostel for a few drinks.
Again only have 3 mins left so have to go
Hope your all well.
