One random but great day!
The 3 Americans I ran into my first day in Jaco, the same ones who bought my dinner last night invited me fishing with them this morning. I wasn't entirely sure if I was going to go and I woke up a little late this morning, but I walked toward town anyway, they saw me and stopped to pick me up on the way, so rooster fishing I went!
We spent most of the day out on the water and we each took our turn on the reel...this was my first ever fishing trip first I caught an amberjack. I'm not very girly when it comes to most things but I wouldn't hold my fish, but they made me give it a kiss before they threw it back in, apparently it's good luck to kiss youf first fish! The fishing trip was for roosterfish, something I had never heard of...my next turn, the first roosterfish of the day! Man what a work out, it probably took me about 20 mins to reel it in and I needed a little help from one of the guys. But after a lot of fight I caught a 50 lb roosterfish and the biggest fish of the day! (I have pictures to prove it, so it's not a fish tale)
Next on the agenda, dinner...a transplanted Canadian from Vancouver recommended the Fish Taco bar to me, I had two tacos coconut Mahi Mahi and spicy tuna. It's a pretty funky restaurant and I ate my dinner on a swing!
My first night in Jaco I wandered past the local theatre, turns out they had a play on called 17 Boarder Crossings. I bought a ticket and the show was tonight. It was a one man show all about traveling and the various circumstances you can encounter while trying to cross boarders from one country to another...and to end off the randomness of my day who should sit down next to me but a couple from where else but Cape Breton! We played the who's your mother and father game (they are a little older so they aren't sure they know them but I have their names and maiden names just in case) so they drove me home after the play to make sure I made it safe and sound!
Wonder what tomorrow will bring?
