Today was the perfect vacation day a few of the girls got up early to go bird watching (surprisingly I didn't go lol) when they got back we had a delicious breakfast and read for a while in the swinging chairs...
After a relaxing morning Roberto brought us down to the river where we sat in the sun, swam and read until lunchtime. I finally got to work on my tan! After lunch we sat around on the patio some of us reading or chatting...Next cooking lessons with Daisy!
Daisy taught us how to make Tamales which is a traditional Costa Rican dish mainly served at Christmas. The tradition is to get everyone involved. We haven't tested our final product yet, they are breakfast tomorrow.
After cooking a few of us went on a night hike with Roberto...sounded like a good idea but it was very out of my element! The first things he told us were if you see a snake don't get too close and tell him right away because they are very dangerous, second don't touch any of the trees there are ants on the trees about an inch long that will bite and sting you...this should have been my cue to turn around! I was paranoid the entire time I was going to slip and fall and instinctively grab onto a tree...I should also mention it was really dark and muddy and we were hiking in rubber boots! If the purpose of this vacation was to do things out of my comfort zone, mission accomplished!
We had a BBQ steak supper and off to bed...tomorrow morning we take the tractor out of the forest and then we head to La Fortuna...
